It has been announced that the United Nations Climate Change Conference will be hosted in December 2019 in Santiago, Chile.
COP25 will take place in Santiago on the 2-13th December 2019, with the exact venue to be announced imminently. The pre COP will be on from 26 November to 1 December 2019.
Chile was announced as the host country back in December last year. The South American country has taken over from Brazil, who withdrew from hosting after the new President-Elect Jair Bolsonaro said on his campaign that he may pull out of the Paris Agreement.
The UNFCCC broke the news of the new confirmed dates on twitter:

The president of COP24, Michal Kurtyka, took to twitter to wish the country good luck:

This news follows the UK putting in a bid to host COP26 in 2020. This COP will be significant as it will be crucial for countries to show they have met deadlines set at the Paris Agreement at COP21. If the UK is successful in their bid, it would strengthen the government’s determination to remain a world leader after Brexit.
