The French Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development Laurent Fabius and Peru’s Environment Minister Manuel Pulgar-Vidal will participate in a key ministerial meeting on Monday in preparation for the United Nations climate conference in December.

The Ministerial Consultation on Climate Change is taking place in the French capital on Sunday and Monday in the build up to the U.N. summit that will also take place in Paris from 30 November to 11 December.

Pulgar-Vidal is President of the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP20) that was held in Peru last year and Peru-France ministerial consultations are taking place designed to support this year’s COP21 meeting in France.

A binding global agreement is due to be signed at the COP21 conference in December and this week’s Ministerial Consultation is part of intensifying discussions among delegation leaders.

The Ministerial Consultation on Climate Change is one of the main high-level forums of negotiation, with key decision makers of climate change policies taking part and ministers and high-ranking representatives of 55 countries and three representatives of the United Nations attending.
