Holcim to develop concrete that recharges electric vehicles
Holcim partners with Magment to develop a magnetizable concrete technology that enables electric vehicles to recharge wirelessly while driving.
Holcim partners with Magment to develop a magnetizable concrete technology that enables electric vehicles to recharge wirelessly while driving.
The cement giant and German start-up have teamed up to produce innovative electric roads that enable electric vehicles to charge in motion through inductive charging.
Holcim and Magment’s Research & Development teams are creating the unique concrete with high magnetic permeability.
This breakthrough concrete-based solution will reduce the need for charging stations and will save time recharging your vehicle.
The technology is currently being tested by researchers at Purdue University (US) in Indiana.
Other applications under development include the electrification of industrial floors to recharge robots and forklifts as they work.
Mauricio Esguerra, Co-Founder & CEO of Magment GmbH, said: “We are proud to collaborate with a global leader in innovative and sustainable solutions like Holcim.”
