Top 10 clean cities announced in India
Mysore has topped the Swachh Bharat rankings among 476 cities across India as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's “My Clean India” campaign

The Indian city of Mysore has been ranked as the cleanest in the country as part of the government's sustainable cities campaign.
Mysore, with a population of less than one million, is in the south-western state of Karnataka and has been recognised for aggressive waste management efforts and effective sanitation programme.
Mysore has topped the Swachh Bharat rankings among 476 cities across India with three more locations in Karnataka figuring in the top 10.
The rankings were released ten months after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a “My Clean India” campaign designed to promote sustainable cities in India.
The 476 Class-1 cities in 31 states and union territories, each with a population of at least 100,000, were assessed on sanitation practices including solid waste management, septage management, waste water treatment, drinking water quality, surface water quality of water bodies and mortality due to water borne diseases.
Thiruchirapalli in Tamil Nadu and Navi Mumbai, a modern satellite city near Mumbai, were ranked second and third, respectively.
Kochi in Kerala, Hassan, Mandya and Bengaluru in Karnataka, Thiruvananthapuram and Halisahar in West Bengal, and Gangtok in Sikkim made up the top 10.
The lowest ranked cities were Damoh and Bhind in Madhya Pradesh, Palwal and Bhiwani -- both in Haryana, and Chittaurgarh, Rajasthan.
The rest of the bottom 10 was made up of Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh, Rewari, Haryana, Hindaun, Rajasthan, and Sambalpur in Odisha.
The survey covered a range of factors including water quality and water-borne illnesses.
Delhi Cantonment was ranked 15th in the list and New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) came 16th, while Municipal Corporation of Delhi was at 398th position.
West Bengal performed well in the rankings with 25 urban areas featuring in the top 100.
Thirty-nine cities from the southern states were among the top 100, followed by 27 from East, 15 from West, 12 from North and seven from the North-Eastern states.
Bengaluru leads the list of state capitals at 7th place while Patna was the lowest ranked capital at 429th.
