Sustainable ‘Super Tower’ in Bangkok will set new energy-efficiency standards
Grand Canal Land (GLand) is expecting to complete Bangkok’s tallest sustainable "Super Tower” by 2019
A new “Super Tower” in Bangkok will be the tallest building in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region when it is completed in 2019 and will set an example on green building.
Grand Canal Land (GLand) is developing the tower with a focus on environmentally friendly design and energy-efficiency.
It has been developed in line with the requirements for platinum certification of the US Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) programme.
Yotin Boondicharern, the Chairman of GLand, said the Super Tower would be a mixed-used project divided into three zones.
It will have high-rise space for premium offices and target groups are the banking, insurance and securities-trading industries, as well as brokering, fund-management financial counseling services.
This building will be designed to be a hub for ‘Asean’ regional headquarters.
The 125 storey building will stand at 615 metres and is being designed by Thai Company Architect 49.
GLand has hired one of the world's top experts in tall buildings, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, as the consulting firm for its Super Tower.
The tower will consist of solar cells to generate some electricity for the building as well as the utilisation of energy-efficient material.
The air-conditioning system will use variable air volume to ensure a constant temperature and the glass on the exterior of the building will be insulated.
Moreover, a bicycle park and shower rooms will be available for those that use cycling as a means of transport. The tower will also include a six-star hotel for world’s top class guests and a stunning panoramic view of Bangkok, on the top deck, from the city's tallest building.
